- News: DUMA winner announced after a close final
- 27 June 2006
The Bournemouth Garden Marquee was bustling with festival goers last night as the three DUMA finalists 'Tinderbox', 'Numidian Wish' and 'The View' battled for the number 1 position. After three excellent performances (and an untimely powercut) the decision finally went to 'The View', a heavy-rock four piece, and a group Tinderbox have come to know and respect over the DUMA semi-finals.
Tinderbox kicked off the finals with 'Travelling', one of the more popular new additions to their original set. The crowd response was genuinely enthusiastic - helped by a rowdy group of fans from the Bournemouth Live! performance the day before. The set peaked with an energetic rendition af 'Ordinary Day' before finishing with the sweet and melodic 'Behind The Smile'. This would be the audiences only acoustic experience of the evening.
Next up was 'Numidian Wish' , a six piece slow rock band with an impressive army of followers and a consistantly high rating in the semi-final leader board. A great mellow-rock set with another female vocalist.
Finally 'The View' took to the stage with all the energy and volume of a classic 'Who' concert. A tight overall sound with a great rhythm section and thrashing melodic guitars, this group changed the mood of the evening. A total power cut during the third song saw drummer Harry entertaining with some solos, and culminated in an unplugged crowd performance of Oasis' Wonderwall. Finally, with the generator resusitated the group kicked back in to their set to close of the evening.
A great evening of very diverse music was had by all. Thanks go to 'Devils Music'.
