- Review: Tinderbox play the last DUMA semi-final...

Tinderbox played at the 'King Charles' on Poole Quay last night, in what was to be be the last semi-final performance of the Dorset Unsigned Music Awards.
The first act of the evening, Tinderbox took full advantage of the stunning acoustics in this 17th century venue and impressed with a tight, flowing set. With tunes such as 'Like Rain', 'Out On My Own', 'Behind The Smile' and 'Travelling', the duo set a high standard of musicianship early on in the night. The biggest surprise perhaps was the inclusion of the Counting Crows' classic 'Mr Jones'. A departure from their often laid back and mellow sound, 'Mr Jones' proved that Tinderbox can rock with the rest.
Other notable performances included a great solo set from singer/songwriter Julian Garner, and a surprising and successful acoustic repertoire from 'The View'. Teen rock band 'The Illiterati' closed off the evening.
A memorable night overall, this particular session proved how the bands have bonded over the last three weeks; and how raw competition seems to have been replaced by comradeship, mutual respect, and a real love for great quality live music.
